hovercraft rescue

Coast Guard hovercraft
hovercraft departing

Strange sight on Spanish Banks...a huge Coast Guard hovercraft beaching itself.  Paramedics were waiting for a man being transported from Wreck Beach, where the climb is too steep to carry someone out on a stretcher.

All I had with me was my iPhone.
VPD Beach Patrol and ATVs.
Thank God, it was just our tax-payer $$ hard at work... from a distance, I thought we were being invaded!  I don't know by whom... :-)

Every barn and cowshed in Sogn is transformed into a eatery. Cozy, but not such a good indication for agriculture in the area.

"17-maiplassen"

An ancient place for gatherings. High above the fjord and deep in the forest.

Neatly kept as if someone swept the floor the same day.

a modest celebration

Well, we ended up in a restaurant. The local one, Herman. And I must say I prefer Janne's version of the Norwegian flag. I always do prefer Janne's version, whatever it is. She did the ceiling also.

17. mai

Norwegian national day. It is a big thing. But I woke up at two, and it is raining sideways, so I don't think I'll give a damn.

Raining 2

Confirmation Sunday, and rather miserable.

Raining 1

Dog wants to go out. I open the door. It is pouring down. She looks at me and says

"why did you do this?"

rainy day lie-in

 I opened my eyes ...

... And looked up at the rain,

And it dripped in my head

And flowed into my brain,

And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.

ordinary kids

At the end of the lesson I told the kids to sit down in the sand. And look around. The blossoming trees, the fjord, the snow on the mountains, the sun and beach volley in the school ground.

How ordinary is this.

They just made fun of me.
