Left the office in the dark... this is the view of the trees next to the parking lot as seen through the condensation on my car windshield.

Night Scenery

Got up again. I could not sleep. Made myself a cup of tea. A clock is ticking, outside is dark and quiet. No cars, no footsteps

Leikanger is a small community. I lock the door every night but leave the key on the outside. We are very naive.

I see the lights from a huge boat mid-fjord. It is anchored and has been there for four days. Dumping ammunition. The fjord is a thousand meters deep.

Dog's exhausted. Blaming me for staying up at this hour

Unaware of the Year of The Rabbit, I was stumbling downstairs to meet the new day. A blizzard out there, whitening out the windows

We are nine hours ahead and Lissa should be in bed by now, but you never know (comment from Lissa.. I wasn't! :-))

Regardless of the weather everyone is on time for work, and no schools are closed.  Ever.

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

     Today is the first day of the Chinese New Year, The Year of the Rabbit.  Vancouver is a city with a strong Asian presence and today everyone was greeting each other in person or online with the Chinese wish for a prosperous new year, "Gung Hay Fat Choy!". This seems an appropriate date, then, to commence our new blog.  Sadly, however, today was not an auspicious start to the new year for me. I've been under the weather and it's been rainy and cold. And I didn't manage to take any photos. Chinese new year and Lunar Fest celebrations commenced tonight in downtown Vancouver, but I did not make it. But... the good news is that they will continue each night into the weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to take in the celebrations and maybe get some good photos. In the mean time, I am posting a photo taken just a few days ago because it is representative of what is going on outside again tonight. I can guarantee you, that park bench looks exactly the same tonight as I type this.... nice and wet!

Trine lives on the west coast of Norway.  Lissa lives on the west coast of Canada.
They met each other a much longer time ago than either one wants to admit, while attending school in Lillehammer Norway.  Many years later, they met again online.  Both became amateur, but avid, shutterbugs.  For the last year or two, they have been sharing and admiring each other's photos through the magic of social networking sites.   One day, inspired by a similar mileage-shrinking photoblog, Lissa and Trine decided to share their photos in one blog.  This is it.
