utøya

Norway is on the news world wide. After a massacre at a youth camp in Utøya. The most horrid stories are being told. Norway is a small community. One girl from this county is missing, and another girl from my sister's school, and we have not yet seen any lists.

Life goes on, of course it does. Mikkel and Line came here today and we had homemade pan pizza and wine and beer, and now we are watching a movie and scratching our mosquito bites. It is all a summer thing. Dog does not beg for food - but hangs around when people eat.

hallandsberget

The old "LØE" is still there. Falling more apart every year. May favorite spot of all here in Leikanger.

A small treat also, on my special rock up there.

friendship

The dog and I are sharing a chicken salad in the park in the middle of Sogndal. I don't like too much talking, I'd rather be with the dog.

høyslått

Sigurd and Zambo

Einar and Matja

Life is complicated, but when Marit and I and the boys, and the dogs, and Janne, are harvesting the grassland in Monken it is all about one thing; to get the hay indoor before the rain.

Blisters on the hands, mosquito-bitten legs and sunburned backs; in the evening we fall in sleep on the couch. Those days are the best .

rainy day

I am painting the floor in my studio... well, no, actually it is just the room where I keep all my mess. Which makes it even more challenging to paint the floor.

It is raining sideways, drumming on the roof and laundry is soaked through again. Mikkel went back to bed, and the dog went with him.

I will stick to my new book. Just came in my mail box. If you have not read anything by Siri Hustvedt, Lissa or anyone else, then you should get started. Read Blindfold or What I Loved. Hustvedt is of Norwegian origin, but lives in New York and is married to Paul Auster. Well, he reaches her to her ankles.

random

The T-shirt I bought the other day, the receipt, a bottle of Drambuie, the iron and the morning outside

(Lissa: Drambuie for breakfast? ;-))

saturday night

Went to Sogndal to pick up the kid, age 25, around three in the morning. They were done with their pub thing and were having pizza in the
middle of town. Mikkel had already promised his friends I would take them home. My pleasure.

Actually the midst of the night is rather dark right now, but now, four in the morning, you can read the newspaper sitting outside.

Elin and Bård got married today and the dance music could be heard all over Leikanger all night. Now even that is quiet, only the birds are left. Not a car on the roads, not a cruise ship on the fjord.

We are drowning, literally. Rain seems to have no end.

The only way for the farmers to get dry hay, is HESJING. Norwegian style, I suppose, and probably Lissa did this during her stay in Geiranger in the 80's...

(Lissa:  I most certainly did, and loved it! :-))

The warm weather has finally arrived and the beach is the place to catch a cool breeze.

Mikkel and the dog have an agreement about this piece of bread.

..

I go for a walk with the dog around 1:30 in the morning. Birds are singing and it is getting light. I like to watch the open bedroom windows, and imagine people sleeping behind them.

Dog's aware of creatures in the bushes; hedgehogs, cats and birds or just a grasshopper.

Anonymous

summer is in full swing:  nature is rhapsodic
and humans are behaving puckishly
I stopped to admire these water lilies when I thought
I'd spotted a tiny lizard of some kind.
But someone had gently placed a toy 'gator (croc?) on
a lily pad and left...
