rainy day

I am painting the floor in my studio... well, no, actually it is just the room where I keep all my mess. Which makes it even more challenging to paint the floor.

It is raining sideways, drumming on the roof and laundry is soaked through again. Mikkel went back to bed, and the dog went with him.

I will stick to my new book. Just came in my mail box. If you have not read anything by Siri Hustvedt, Lissa or anyone else, then you should get started. Read Blindfold or What I Loved. Hustvedt is of Norwegian origin, but lives in New York and is married to Paul Auster. Well, he reaches her to her ankles.

  1. Actually, Trine, I haven't read her, but my cousin has... the one whose daughter is named Siri :-) Yes, that's how she first heard of the name and decided she liked it.

Btw, what do you mean by "he reaches to her ankles"? Is that an idiom that apparently doesn't translate, or an inside joke from her book... something saucy (lol)...?

  2. A Norwegian idiom then, I suppose. How old is Siri? In "Blindfold" Hustvedt plays with the name as the main character is Iris, Siri the other way around. I really like the idea that Siri is drawn to Siri. No, the mother of Siri, is drawn to Siri. That makes sense. And "Blindfold" is one of her best books, next to "What I Loved". But "What I Loved" is huger and should be the next step.

Will you say hi from me to both of them? The yoga kid and the reading mother.
